The theme of this year’s SAPOA Convention, hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, is “Challenging Times: Understanding the Issues and Planning for the future”. One of these challenges is the global water crises. CNBC Africa’s Fifi Peters caught up with Benoit Le Roy, CEO of Water Shortage SA, who commented about steps the City of Cape Town has taken to avert the water crisis.

KOWA MOTIVATION FOR AWARENESS MOVEMENT FOR IMPROVEMENT OF WATER MANAGEMENT, CLEANLINESS AND ACCESS BY COMMUNITIES OF CLEAN WATER THROUGHOUT SOUTH AFRICA IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE WATER SHORTAGE SA INITIATIVE. By Carrie Dempsey August 2019
TERRY DEMPSEY, international songwriter/producer/musician/film/TV producer and so much more was motivated by a TV programme which showed the mountains of plastic and other waste on beautiful beaches and in rivers around the world from Mumbai to Cape Town, to the shores of Finland and Thailand that is killing the creatures that live in and around them with pollution. He was driven to activate an Awareness Movement through music and assembled a team to produce his song KEEP OUR WORLD ALIVE which he wrote with Doug Campbell. The first person he approached was the well-known and much respected SA performer Adv. Steve Kekana who immediately agreed to record the song. Robin Hogarth twice Grammy Award winner put together and arranged a fabulous choir and Doug and himself produced the recording. Carrie and Terry Dempsey spent hours putting together the video, generously guided by Dirk Mostert and the editors and technicians at his film studio.

Terry and Carrie then contacted Prof. Tony Turton after he was interviewed by Tim Modise where they were discussing his need to create an Unstoppable Movement for Positive Change in water management. This is needed to drive the massive clean up of the Vaal River, Hennops and many other rivers, dams and community projects across the country. They teamed up with Water Shortage SA CEO Benoit Le Roy to empower the water component of their planned PPGI, Public and Private Growth Initiative.

We are proud and thrilled that they have embraced KEEP OUR WORLD ALIVE as the theme song for this exciting initiative and we have undertaken to pay a percentage of royalties raised by the recording to WATER SHORTAGE SA as our contribution to their projects for meaningful change for the upliftment and benefit of the country.

Paul and Dianne Dempsey have also agreed to commit to this project and we are so grateful to have them give of their time, talent and knowledge when they themselves are so busy with their own demanding businesses.

Charles Kuhn of Next Music has signed a contract with us to promote the recording/video as far and wide as he can to get our message out on as many radio, television and media platforms in as many countries as possible. We are extremely fortunate to have this strong team with us.

This important initiative was Terry’s last wish – let’s all make it happen!
